The architectural firm of Don Hammerberg Associates is located in the center of Farmington Village where it has engaged in the practice of architecture since 1968. The staff headed by Don Hammerberg, an architect with nearly sixty years experience, is presently comprised of three associates. The practice has included designing virtually all of the typical building types that encompass a community: the residential sector - both single and multi-family housing, the private sector - factories, shopping centers, office buildings and interior tenant planning, and the public sector - school renovations, religious buildings and institutional structures. Along with contemporary and traditional work, the firm a strong understanding and practice of historical preservation and design. Within the city of Hartford, Don Hammerberg Associates has distinguished itself with the design and construction of award winning Hartford Square North, commonly known as the "Candy Cane Building", the old Equator Bank Building, and the rehabilitation of many buildings comprising Hartford Square West, East and South. The firm has also programmed, designed and built numerous medical, retail and office tenants in prominent buildings throughout Hartford, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, West Hartford, Farmington, Avon and Simsbury.
